Mr. Glavin, Mr. Trudeau: Our naughty post-feminist dodgers
Effective foreign aid means stopping warfare
In his mawkish article in the National Post I find myself in rather strong disagreement with both Terry Glavin, and Mr. Trudeau.
Glavin makes the claim:
The emancipation of women is the most important freedom struggle in human history.
First and foremost, mankind has to be emancipated from the endless warfare and militarism that is killing and displacing so many millions in so many countries. We refuse to acknowledge the trillions of dollars pissed away on warfare. We refuse to take responsibility for our part in these wars, and the wanton destruction of whole countries like Syria, Libya and Iraq.
Endless warfare: stripping women and everybody else of their rights
Their are powerful forces in the world that want chaos to prevail. As long as it does social progress is thwarted. It requires the incubator of some semblance of social, economic and political stability.
Both Glavin and Trudeau fail to acknowledge that warfare is in fact the greatest impediment to women’s emancipation and social progress for everyone, everywhere. Warfare destroys whole families, whole countries, and the trillions of dollars squandered(or even a small fraction there of) would do endless good for the world.
Glavin’s article makes the dubious claim:
The wider the gender gap, the more likely a country is to be embroiled in civil war, social violence and inter-state aggression.
The fact is, most “inter-state aggression” has its origins with the global hegemonic ambitions of the USA.
The article also makes the claim that… The idea is that by advancing gender equality, you directly tackle the primary cause of global poverty and instability.
Here again this claim is totally wrong-headed. We foster a global capitalist system that strips countries of their national wealth; all the way from the First to Third World. The massive failure of our present system has been well documented by the world’s leading economists. In a world that manufactures poverty and inequality through Neo-liberal values little will change.
Gender equality will only come about as a result of economic and political reform and a new world order based on multilateral values and coming to grips with the global plague of militarism.
Where nobody speaks for peace there will be no peace, war will prevail.
Mankind is suffering an acute deadening of conscience and this must change.
Instead of frivolous misadventures, Canada and other NATO vassal states should speak for, and insist on peace and end the terrifying drift to larger and more lethal wars. The world community can no longer afford to pay Washington’s crushing tribute taxes that are levied in so many forms, and in so many inhumane ways.
These are difficult times and the naughty diversion of virtue signaling is a rude grotesque.
For women, and everybody else, emancipation will come about only when we have the courage and boldness to deal with the existential issues at hand.
