Liberals: Persona non grata in British Columbia
Alberta tar babies will be impounded!
I have just read our PM is not coming to British Columbia as part of his trans-Canada ego trip. This is just as well. Both him and John Horgan are less than popular now. When these two stalwarts of political duplicity get together BC takes two big hits in a row.
What really rankles us folks is the imminent construction of the Kinder Morgan pipeline. It smells like an energy crisis to me when we have to jam this Alberta sludge into a pipeline, run it across BC at great risk to the environment, and then off to China to poison their environment even more than it is already. In Ottawa(Blunderburg on the Rideau) they don’t know the difference between a pipeline and a prevarication.
The mystery of Site C dam is solved. It is really a giant containment reservoir for water going to the tar sands. You say water and oil don’t mix- they do in Alberta’s Bible belt. It takes three barrels of water to produce one barrel of tar sands oil. Even more water is required to dilute the bitumen to push it down the Kinder Morgan pipeline to Burrard Inlet. Horgan and Trudeau are on the ropes with this one and going down for the count- that is, when His Excellency isn’t falling out of kayaks.
We have 18 Liberal MPs we will be cashing-in next election, so they might want to dust off their resumes. We would prefer it was sooner, but in the mean time, they can continue as tongue-tied somnolent bench warmers on the public dole. As the dutiful and loyal public we are very experienced at subsidizing political decrepitude and fat-ass corporations.
We are travelling back in time to the era of PETrudeau when the Liberal party had a very hard time electing an MP West of the Manitoba /Ontario border. So much for our national unity. The ogres of Upper Canada prevail.
Our capital “L” liberals still haven’t caught on to the fact liberalism suffered an untimely death around the turn of the century in both the US and Canada. The Democratic Party and the Liberal Party of Canada were collateral damage, so too was Hillary Clinton’s presidential campaign-another subject for another time.
As American author and activist Chis Hedges noted in his book, Death of the Liberal Class:
Liberals conceded too much power to the power elite. The tragedy of the Liberal class and the institutions it controls is that it succumbed to opportunism and finally to fear. It abrogated its moral role. It did not defy corporate abuse when it had the chance. It exiled those within its ranks who did. And the defanging of the liberal class not only removed all barriers to neofeudalism and corporate abuse but also assured the liberal calls will also be swept aside.
In his account of the death of liberalism Peter C. Newman made the analogy that to resurrect the Liberal Party of Canada from the dead was like trying to piss off a cliff into a Chinese tea-cup on a windy day. They didn’t even try to piss off the cliff. They just go on their merry way as a catering service to the power elite. No integrity, no center of gravity.
As to John Horgan and his hapless NDP caucus, they are burnt toast. Horgan just set an all-time record by blowing his political credibility-faster than Justin Trudeau- a truly remarkable feat. Horgan and Company have just laid the ground-work for a Liberal victory- Welcome back Christy’s clones.
When people vote for change they expect change. Deliver or you are dead. There is only so much learning and unlearning you can do in a life time- the BC NDP has no pulse.
Jagmeet, don’t worry! Notely and Horgan will be long gone before the next federal election. Where they might be your allies, they are your nemesis. You owe them nothing. They are political discards irrelevant to the greater good of the country and important business at hand.
We really don’t want to appear unfriendly, but survival and equanimity require that Liberals are personna non grata in British Columbia.
Should our fearsome PM be so bold as to show his face out here again I will be pleased to instruct him on how to get into a kayak. I will also tutor him on centers of gravity.
In the meantime, I recommend dark glasses, blond wigs, and good running shoes when landing at Vancouver International.

Colonialism is a denial of the reality of self in favour of an imaginary special position inside the mythology of someone else’s empire. That special position can never exist because empires have their own purpose. Saul, John Ralston. A Fair Country: Telling Truths About Canada
